Ilana Amrani-Cohen has worked in the field of complex trauma and self-care for 35 years. She stepped down from her position after 25 years, having developed and led programs serving people affected by complex trauma and domestic violence. Ilana received her BSW degree from Hebrew University in Jerusalem Israel, her MSW from Boston University, and her Ph.D. from Boston College. Currently, she is in private practice consulting and training on Fostering Resilience, Sleep, Team Building, Stress Management, Empathy and Compassion in Leadership, Complex Trauma, Laughter Yoga, Well-being, and Team-Building Games. Ilana has led seminars on these topics nationally and internationally in Japan and Kenya. As a trainer and consultant for IsraAID, she has provided psychological support to IsraAID Fellows stationed around the world. IsraAID deployed Ilana to multiple disaster zones such as Nepal (following the earthquake), Puerto Rico (in the aftermath of the devastating hurricane) and in Chico, California (after the fires). During the pandemic, she led webinars on how to address stress and anxiety for agencies around the country and clergy and UN diplomates. Since October 7th Ilana spent one month in Israel during December 2023 as a volunteer with IsraAID in Eilat in addition to another month in May and June 2024. Ilana continued to support many of the team members who work directly with the displaced communities and just returned from her third recent trip to Israel in February 2025.
